Andy Jankowiak Seeks To End Allentown Winless Streak On Indoor Auto Racing Series
Allentown, PA – Andy Jankowiak is ranked third on the all-time Indoor Racing Series win list, yet he’s 0 for 13 inside Allentown’s PPL Center. To say the full time driver of ARCA Stock Cars and asphalt Modifieds is due during this weekend’s Ironton Global-sponsored events would be an understatement.
Feature events for the headline TQ Midgets will be held both on Friday and Saturday, January 3rd and 4th giving ‘Andy J’ two chances to end his winless streak. He’s also comes to town with momentum, after a 2024 series finale victory, his fourth in the Gambler’s Classic inside Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall.
A colorful campaigner, Jankowiak has been close to winning so many times in the past in Allentown including both features last year.
After leading 15 of the 30 laps in the 2024 Friday night event, Jankowiak blew a water hose and spun. Ryan Flores of Huntersville, NC, who was running second, spun in Jankowiak’s water handing the lead to eventual winner Tanner VanDoren of Schnecksville, PA.
In Saturday’s 40 lap feature a year ago, Jankowiak was in a three-car dog fight for the win with Ontario, NY’s Tommy Catalano and Flores. In a position to win it, Jankowiak’s car had a brake failure and he watched Flores drive from third to first to take the win in a classic event.
Jankowiak’s back luck followed him from Allentown to Atlantic City. In Friday’s Black Jack 21 event he was forced to pit with eight to go, but rallied back to finish sixth. Saturday’s Gambler’s Classic, however saved his Indoor season. After grabbing the lead, Jankowiak appeared to have a clear path to victory. Catalano, seeking his first series win, had a stronger car and passed him for the top. The surprise pass found Jankowiak drop back to fourth.
Trying to advance late in the race, Jankowiak again got shuffled back after catching a wheel of another competitor. Despite less than five laps remaining, he rebounded to third when the white flag was thrown. Coming to the checkered, the front two of Flores and VanDoren got together and Jankowaik took the surprise win.,
There will be more thrills and memories made at this weekend’s event in Allentown with the Indoor Series stars returning to battle. Other drivers expected to shine are area favorites Briggs Danner, Billy Pauch Jr., Tim Buckwalter, Matt Janisch and Matt Roselli.
For those aiming for a big payday, the Ironton Auto Body Challenge offers a $10,000 bonus for a weekend sweep. To complete the challenge, Friday’s winner must agree to start the Saturday A-Main from the 10th position. If they can race through the field and win again, they’ll pocket $10,000—a $5,000 bonus on top of their purse. If the sweep isn’t achieved, the challenge will roll over to the next event in Atlantic City.
The weekend promises plenty of action both on and off the track. In addition to the high-speed TQ Midgets, fans will enjoy thrilling support races from the Slingshots and Champ Karts.
Tickets for the event are on sale now via Ticketmaster and the PPL Center box office.
