Billy Pauch Jr. Seeks Another Milestone For His Legendary Racing Family
Allentown, PA – Billy “The Kid” Pauch, a legendary figure in the world of auto racing, set the bar high for his son, Billy Pauch Jr. Known as “The Kid’s Kid,” Pauch Jr. is steadily carving out his own legacy in the sport. This weekend, at the Ironton Global-sponsored Indoor Racing Series at the PPL Center in Allentown, Pauch Jr. will attempt to match a major accomplishment of his father: a TQ Midget feature event win on the Indoor Racing Series.
While Billy Pauch Sr. boasts one series feature victory, which came at Atlantic City’s famous Boardwalk Hall in 2009, Pauch Jr. has yet to capture a main event win in the TQ Midget division. His closest moment came in 2022, when he triumphed in a Triple 20 split-field event. This weekend, with feature races scheduled both Friday and Saturday night, Pauch Jr. will have two opportunities to claim that elusive first major Indoor win.
Returning to the cockpit of the Jason Simmons Racing No. 98p, the 40-year-old driver from Frenchtown, NJ, is poised to be a contender. After a disappointing 2023 TQ Midget Indoor Series, Pauch Jr. and the JSR Racing team have undertaken an extensive off-season preparation to get back to the front of the pack.
The 2024 indoor season dud end on a high note for the Pauch family. At the Indoor Dirt Nationals inside the CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton, NJ, Pauch Jr. won Friday night’s main event in the 600 Sprint division, marking the first indoor dirt victory of its kind for the Pauch family.
The outdoor season also saw Pauch Jr. adding to his resume with seven dirt Modified victories and his first-ever track championship at Bridgeport Motorsports Park in N.J. Heading into Allentown, the veteran driver brings with him a wealth of momentum, having secured three big late-season Modified wins at Big Diamond, New Egypt, and BAPS Motor Speedway.
In total, 45 TQ Midget drivers will vie for 24 qualifying spots in Friday’s 30-lap main event and Saturday’s 40-lap feature. Pauch won’t have an easy task with former TQ Midget Indoor Series winners registered to compete including defending series champion and Saturday 2024 Allentown winner Ryan Flores of Huntersville, NC.
