Damon Paul Set to Make an Impact at East Coast Indoor Dirt Nationals Inside Cure Insurance Arena
by Barry Angstadt
Trenton, NJ (December 2, 2018) – There are many top-notch teenage talents in 600 Micro Sprint racing and many of them are expected to make an impact at the 2nd Annual East Coast Indoor Dirt Nationals inside the Cure Insurance Arena in Trenton, New Jersey – the event kicks off on Thursday, December 13 and running both Friday, December 14, and December 15.
One young charger who enjoyed a break-out season in 600 Micro Sprints will be wheeling his No. 144 in Trenton. Damon Paul, from Stoney Point, NY, registered a total of seven victories this season (at four different tracks) and the teen sensation should be a threat to win the big one on December 15.
Paul broke through for his first two wins at Kutztown’s Action Track USA this year, and he added a pair of victories (each) at Hamlin and Spirit Auto Center Speedway in Bridgeport, NJ. The “Stoney Point Stud” also had a lone victory at Linda’s Speedway during their Summer Nationals in July. He wound up third in points in the extremely competitive Hyper Racing 600 Sprint class at Championship Energy Action Track USA in Kutztown.
The former Junior Slingshot National Champion has driven Stage One Modifieds, All Star Slingshots, and SpeedSTRs, but he’s really found a home – and quite a bit of success – in the 600 Micros.
He and his dad, Tim, will haul their Think Fiberglass, Inc. No. 144 to Trenton where both he and Lindsay will compete on Thursday night in an effort to lock themselves into Saturday’s A-Main. They will join 58 others who will attempt to qualify through heats and A-Qualifier races on Thursday, while another 60 entrants do the same on Friday night. Those who do not lock in on their respective qualifying nights will be relegated to Last Chance, or “alphabet” Mains on Saturday.
The East Coast Indoor Dirt Nationals begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, with an invited field of All Star Slingshots joining the non-wing 600 Micro Sprints. Friday’s action gets underway at 7:00 when an invited group of Champ Karts will also be on the menu with the 600’s in an evening of clay-pounding action presented by Freiberger Excavating.
Saturday’s racing, presented by Oliver Communications Group, is exclusively for the 600 Micros, and the Last Chance races will lead up to the 40-lap A-Main. Saturday’s program begins at 5 p.m.
Other event sponsors include Hoosier Racing Tires, VP Racing Fuels, and JR Michalski Heating & Air Conditioning.
